Trial by Fire
Rundown
Final Eternity (FE) is going to be a panfandom horror game based on Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia and Twisted Wonderland. It will have a strong focus on strengthening both abilities and bonds. Gaining a powerful weapon will be just as important as - if not more important than - building trust with comrades.
Before we get into all that, however, the time has come for the prelude: Trial by Fire (TbF).
Ten lucky people will be tasked with becoming the tragic heroes that will be talked about in the main game. Everything they do, everything they say, everything they overcome will be scattered throughout the plot of FE. While this does mean that anyone brought to TbF cannot be apped into the main game, there will be countless opportunities to not only reference the fallen heroes later, but to have a chance at threading out something called a "flashback" down the line. To give an idea of what we mean by referencing, first, however:
If two people, say, date? Well, their tragic tale of romance will move the gods to tears! If two people never got along, theirs is an exciting tale of eternal rivalry... Oh, the drama! Friends will become family, indifference will become jealousy, and more! A lot of it will depend on player preferences, but godly interpretations will always be exaggerated.
That said, there will be no ending established for either TbF or FE. Everything about the plot will be determined and led by the character actions, both positive and negative. The godly pair will only be there to support the heroes and warriors during their journey, so there will be just as much room for a happy ending as there will be for a tragic one.
Onto the finer details!

Characters
TbF will have a hard cap of ten characters, with only one character per player. The short round will be run by one mod, with the remaining mods mostly kicking back and enjoying their time as regular players. This doesn't mean they won't help answer any questions, and at least one will be running an NPC, but we'll be trying to keep all questions directed to the headmod for this.
It's important to remember that characters brought to TbF cannot be apped into the main game. So this could be a great time to play someone whose voice doesn't stick around for lengthy periods of time!
We heavily encourage protagonists and those with canon love interests to be considered carefully, given the lock-out mechanic for those ten characters.
All characters will have awakened to both canon abilities and to new abilities, and the Workshop will have more information on all of this. To be clear, all canon abilities will be intact - just with the Final Fantasy twist and flavor text attached to them. As an example:
Healing Abilities → any variation of a fitting Final Fantasy Cure, Revive, etc.
Electricity-based Abilities → any variation of a fitting Final Fantasy Thunder-based ability.
Darkness & Destruction → any variation of Final Fantasy Darkness & Destruction.
And so on and so forth. Creativity is heavily encouraged, as is asking questions! We understand that converting/translating from other works of fiction may not be easy, so we're more than happy to help.

Setting
For visuals and for a lengthier explanation on each location, go here.
The most important thing to remember about this place is that time does not truly move, meaning that day and night is more a matter of where the characters are located; put simpler, some places are permanently night, while others are permanently daytime. There is no need for food, water, or sleep - everyone's bodies, save for injuries (and a matter of willpower), will remain roughly the same throughout their time here.
On that note, every character has been in the TbF setting for at least six months. Each player is allowed to have their character here longer (up to three years), but remember that more time = more handwaved experiences and encounters. A workshop will be going up before even the TDM, and everyone considering joining up will need to at least toplevel and comment around a little, for the sake of establishing preexisting CR, knowledge, and any CR-driven abilities they might have gained.
First and foremost, however, learning the setting is just as important as figuring out any powers or CR. After all, characters are responsible for the development of the world... So there is room for anyone to add their own little sections to the settings page, once they've been accepted into the game!

Applications
Before anyone can even reserve, they'll need to toplevel on the workshop post once that goes up.
Interacting with other players will be a large part of TbF, so it'll be important for everyone to at least meet. It is not a requirement for every character to have significant CR with one another - after all, not everyone is going to get along, or even feel beyond indifference to each and every person. But it is important to remember they've all known one another at least half a year.
We're accepting applications for characters from all works of fiction for this. While we prefer someone from a canon with a decently-filled-out wikipedia (or other source of information), we'll allow anyone the player can provide sufficient information for within the app. The mods just need enough information to work with, in terms of what the NPCs will know, as well as what the world may have done in response to the character's initial arrival.

Death
In a sense, death is only as permanent as the player desires (until the end of TbF, at least).
Put simply, however, death is meant to not last very long. In the case of fights or accidents, at least one other character should have a revival spell. In the case of someone dying while away from the rest of the remaining party, at least one NPC will be able to handle reviving that character. There is no hard limit on how long a character can be dead before being brought back to life, but we do ask that this not be used as a method of hiatusing.

AC, Hiatus & Drops
Everything about hiatuses and drops can be found here.
All of this is subject to change, of course. In every case we will try to balance an understanding of RL with our desire to remain fair to the rest of the players (including ourselves). That said, AC is going to be kept very simple in the hopes of allowing players to focus mainly on one another and the plot! It's also just helpful to the mods; we would like to be able to keep all focus on running the game.
